Based on the powers vested to SAMA under its Law issued by Royal Decree No. (M/36) dated 11/04/1442H, and other related regulations, and further to the Debt Collection Regulations and Procedures for Individual Customers-2018 communicated under Circular No. (391000083340) dated 26/07/1439H.
The updated Debt Collection Regulations and Procedures for Individual Customers mentioned above include several changes, the most notable of which are as follows:
- Defining the concept of "total disability" by introducing a definition in Article 1 related to definitions.
- Updating the provisions related to rescheduling installments for defaulting consumers.
- Modifying the provisions regarding the exemption of creditors' consumers due to death or total disability.
- Establishing a regulation for telephone communication with individual consumers.
- Regulating the mechanism for creditors to deduct due installment amounts from their consumers' accounts.
- Regulating the mechanism for deducting debt from joint consumers in a finance contract, taking into account the agreed-upon liability percentage for each consumer in the finance contract.
